Modern Event Planning for UHNWIs

Dazzle and FizzThe Business School was proud to host a glamourous presentation from one of the best children events and family experience companies around.

The founder and CEO of Dazzle and Fizz, Charlotte Melia, and the COO and founder of Yaverland (sister company), Christine Molgaard, spoke about their company as part of the Big Picture Seminar.

Growing up together and in need of some extra money, Charlotte and Christine started their company as teenagers. They realised that there is a market out there for children parties, and their unique business model of including the parents in children's activities seemed to have paid off.

The businesswomen shared how they had their first 'big thing' – an event for a royal house in the Middle East – an event that was going to launch them in the Ultra-High Net Worth (UHNW) clientele. Working with UHNW individuals is nonetheless a challenge. From security to discretion, and from protocols to exquisite. But they are also a unique market.

Charlotte and Melia told us everything we needed to know about how to interact with said individuals and how mutual respect is key to their business. A top tip in engaging and entering in this 'environment' is living the environment. While this applies to all other businesses, knowing your client is essential. The entrepreneurs shared how research on clients' decision-making process is essential and shared the importance of knowing everything about them: where do they eat? Where do they go for a walk? Where do they shop? Etc.

A notable piece of advice from our speakers was to think about the limits of business. While Dazzle and Fizz are reaching the market saturation point, the businesswomen launched Yaverland, to 'Bringing the Ethos, Style and Attitude of a Dazzle and Fizz event to our corporate clients'.

Another pro tip to our students was the importance of working out the numbers: what is your budget? Are you updating it during the event? Are you still going to have a profit? Did you take into account all the non-event specific operational.
