The Greenwich Giving Day is your chance to change the life of a Greenwich student. For over 130 years, the University of Greenwich has worked to make education accessible for all, opening opportunities for students regardless of their background.
What does a Giving Champion do?
- A Giving Champion is an alumnus, like you, motivated to help Greenwich raise awareness of our fundraising campaigns.
- Giving Champions help reach a much wider audience of family, friends, alumni and business networks than we could alone.
- Giving Champions utilise their digital channels to promote our fundraising campaign using ready-to-use communications and imagery provided in our toolkit.
- Volunteering as a Giving Champion requires little time commitment yet contributes significantly to the success of our fundraising outreach.
- Giving Champions are recognised as digital volunteers and will be acknowledged in our annual supporter roll where we thank our donors and volunteers.
Alumni have the power and influence to help champion causes like the Greenwich Annual Fund by simply tapping into online networks. It takes a community of people to ensure the next generation of Greenwich students can thrive. Whether our students go on to build successful enterprises that tackle social and environmental challenges, provide exceptional healthcare as nurses, or become compassionate and dedicated teachers – it all starts with you.
What are the roles and responsibilities of a Giving Champion?
With our support and ready-made templates, you simply:
- Get social about the Giving Day campaign – post on your social media channels using our images and call to action messaging and tag our Greenwich social accounts so we can reshare and acknowledge your efforts!
- Email your network – promote the campaign and ask your former University of Greenwich classmates or philanthropic peers to consider further sharing online.
- Optional! Go one step further and consider recording and sharing a video about why you’re supporting the campaign as a Giving Champion.
- Share your story as a Giving Champion - reach out to the Alumni & Fundraising team if you’d like to be featured as an active volunteer in our communications – all we’ll need is a quote about why you’re participating and a photo.
- Imagery and pre-prepared text for social media.
- Templates for emailing your network.
- Self-recorded video tips.
- List of our social handles so you can easily tag us and have your message reshared further.
- We’ll provide real-time updates throughout the day to celebrate our fundraising successes

It is our first online giving day bringing the University of Greenwich community together and offering you the chance to change the life of a Greenwich student. For over 130 years, the university has worked to make education accessible for all, opening opportunity for students regardless of their background – and on this Giving Day, we hope to continue this tradition of support over a period of 24 hours.
On Thursday, April 10, we will be asking for donations from our Greenwich alumni community. All donations will go to the Greenwich Annual Fund – directly helping students who are facing financial hardship.
