Ways to give

Give online

How you choose to make your gift is entirely up to you, this can either be a one-off donation or a regular gift. Every gift no matter the size is a great help and we value your contribution.

Alternatively, you can donate via bank transfer in person or over the phone/online banking.

If you wish to donate via this method, please email fundraising@gre.ac.uk and we will share the account details.

Tax-efficient giving

Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax payer, you can increase the value of your donations with Gift Aid at no extra cost to you.

The University of Greenwich is a charity and company limited by guarantee, registered in England (reg. No. 986729). Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to claim back the basic rate tax that donors have already paid on the money they donate. Every pound you donate is worth an extra 25p with Gift Aid.

Higher Rate Tax-Relief

If you pay tax above the basic rate, you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and basic rate on your donation.  To do this you can either include all Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.

Visit the HMRC website to find out more.

How to claim Gift Aid

If you are donating through the online form you can tick the Gift Aid Declaration box which will automatically apply Gift Aid to that and future donations.  Alternatively you can email us at alumni@gre.ac.uk.

Please remember to let us know if your details change, to cancel your declaration or if you no longer pay enough tax to cover Gift Aid.

Give as you shop

Did you know that whenever you buy anything online – from your weekly shop to your annual holiday – you could be raising free donations for University of Greenwich with easyfundraising?

All you need to do is:

  1. Go to EasyFundraising and join for free.
  2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
  3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will make a donation to University of Greenwich at no extra cost to you whatsoever!

Payroll giving

Setting up a donation to charity through your salary or 'Payroll Giving' is an easy way of making a donation. Payroll Giving allows staff to make their contribution to any charity or good cause, directly from their salaries, with all the administration being undertaken by the payroll team. Donations are deducted before tax so each £1 gift costs you only 80p; higher rate tax payers pay only 60p.

If you have any questions about Payroll Giving please e-mail fundraising@gre.ac.uk

Corporate matched giving

Corporate matched giving/funding is a way employees of a company can boost their fundraising by having their donations 'matched' by their employer e.g. for every £1 you donate your employer will donate £1. How much the employer gives depends on the scheme and company however this all helps increase the amount that the donor's charity receives.

Contact HR or Payroll at your company to find out if they support matched-giving.
